Private Equity investments jump to $1.22 billion in July

The private equity investments in India have jumped up by 48 per cent. The total value of the private equity investments has reached to $1.22 billion in July, which is 48 percent more than that of the same month last year. The hike in equity investment is mainly driven by big ticket transactions.

18 August 2017- MCR World- The private equity investments in India have jumped up by 48 per cent. The total value of the private equity investments has reached to $1.22 billion in July, which is 48 percent more than that of the same month last year. The hike in equity investment is mainly driven by big ticket transactions.

There were 59 PE transactions in July this year. The total value of these transactions was approximately worth $1.22 billion. However, in the corresponding month last year there were 88 such deals worth $826 million as per the advisory firms.

A strong raise on account of five big-ticket investments is witnessed by PE investment values that have an approximate value at over $100 million. This contributes to over 67 percent of the total PE investment value together in July.

472 PE deals were observed in the period from January to July. The value of the deals was worth $8.81 billion. Compared to last year, there is 30 per cent rise in the total value.

Approximately 60 transactions were witnessed that are valued at $1.2 billion. It was almost 50 per cent more in value than the same month of year 2016.

With manufacturing and pharma rallying closely behind, the sector is mainly focusing on this month for PE seems to be the BFSI sector.

The start- ups in the month of July contributed to 49 per cent of total investment volumes. While the banking sector dominated the PE investment values contributing to 46 per cent of investment values followed by pharma.
