August 16, 2018

Beatrice Fischel –Bock is the founder and CEO of Hutch. It is a home décor application and web platform that allows you to take a photo of your room, virtually redecorate and shop the look-all for free and in 3D.She recently got a funding of $10 million from a real estate platform Zillow. She was named the 2018’s Forbes 30 Under 30 for Retail and E-Commerce.

Hutch was formerly known as Zoom Interiors and Homee. She launched it in 2012 while still in the final year at Washington University where she was studying architecture and design. She virtually started designing her friend’s apartment earning revenue of $1 million while she was still studying.

She was motivated for her start-up by the fact that interior design was an untouched portion in the technology sector. The team of co-founders of the start-up has backgrounds in tech, product and interior designing.

The process starts with taking a snap of the space one wants to redesign. Then Hutch builds a virtual image of it. User can swipe through different filters available in the app to find their favorite and then can purchase any product that catches their eye.

She designed the app with idea that people can design their own home instead of teaming with high fees charging interior designers. Using the app one can create their dream look. Everything is affordable and available to purchase. Her mantra is to fail fast, fix fast and learn fast.
