Supreme Court Orders to Only Use RO Water for Abhishek on Shivling at Mahakaal
Supreme Court has ordered that only the RO water will be used for the Abhishek on Shivling at Mahakaal, Ujjain. On Friday, the court will be deciding whether Panchamrit can be poured on the Shivling at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain or not.
If the court decided to make use of panchamrat, then again it should be made by using RO water only as the Shivling was getting affected badly. Supreme Court has also formed a committee of experts, who visited the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain recently. It was reported that the committee has recommended restricting certain offerings by devotees to save the Shivling.
The matter came into notice that the Shivling has shrunk due to excessive “bhaang shingar”. This was brought into limelight by a body of intellectuals, Ujjaini Vidwat Parishad. He started a debate over the offering of bhaang and panchamrit.
However, the expert committee embracing officials of Archaeological Survey of India and Geological Survey of India, has found that the bhaang offering is not the reason of shrinking of the Shivling. Yet, they have recommended restricting be imposed on the number of devotees in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
