Hichki Film Review: The Best Comeback Film For Rani Mukharji

March 23, 2018

Hichki is the big Bollywood release of this week and it has opened in theatres and has been receiving positive response from critics and audience. Bollywood celebs showered love to the film after the screening, critics are also praising Rani for her performance. Social media is filled with tweets and posts from B-Town stars who cannot stop gushing about Rani’s performance and the film. The audience loves the film’s simplicity and narration.

Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced under the banner of Yashraj Films, Rani Mukerji-starrer Hichki is the story of Naina Mathuri who is aspiring teacher who has Tourette Syndrome. After several rejections, she gets her dream job as a full-time teacher in one of the most elite schools in the city where she deals with a section of students who play mischief on her condition and did not accept her as their teacher. The movie portrays the ambitious character Naina how she turns her weakness into her biggest strength.

Rani plays Naina Mathur’s character gracefully and she attracts an audience with her aspirations and her unconventional methods of teaching. She is a kind of teacher who bribes her students with boiled eggs to impart physics lessons. The first half of the film is dominated by Rani conquering the reluctant misfits. The young talents such as Harsh Vyas acted nicely.

Although the film is come out with flying colors on the acting front, the script line seems  weak at some points. The twists and conflicts are hard to predictable. The climax, which visualizes cheating and painful examination is unnecessarily dramatic.

But they all are minor hiccups or we may say Hichki, otherwise the film engages the audience throughout.

Rani Mukharji’s comeback film has been getting admiring reviews from the celebs and the critics as well.
