Blackbuck poaching case verdict: Salman Khan convicted and sentenced to 5 years jail
After twenty years of being booked for killing two Blackbucks in Jodhpur, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was convicted and sentenced him to five years in jail and a penulty of Rs 10,000 by a trial court. While other film stars, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendra and Neelam, were acquitted by a Jodhpur court.
Revealing its verdict in the 1998 case, the court found Salman Khan guilty under section 9/51 of Wildlife Protection Act for killing an endangered species protected under the Act. The judge has given the defense and the prosecution one hour each to put forth their final arguments, post which he will decide the quantum of sentence of Khan in the Blackbuck poaching case. While the prosecution is demanding the court to give Salman a tough sentencing, the defense requests for the least sentence.
The prosecution lawyers was expecting the same from court as he said, Salman can be imprisoned for a period between 1 year to 6 years. As per Dushyant Singh’s advocate, “If the Jodhpur court sentences him for a period of 1 year to 3 years, then the actor will get bail immediately. He can go back home and put forth his argument in front of the session/High court in the next one month. If the court decides to sentence him for a period of more than 3 years, then the actor will have to go to jail. He will then get an opportunity to apply for a bail at the session/High court in the next month.”
Now the judge will decide what is happening next. But one question is on everyone’s mind that will Salman have to go to jail or will he be granted bail alike Daler Mehandi? Well, both the scenarios can be played out. According to the News18, if Salman goes to jail, then he will be sent to the Central Jail where Asaram Bapu was taken.
