Auto stocks were suffering losses during afternoon trade on Thursday. Some of them are Bharat Forge, Mahindra & Mahindra, Balkrishna Industries and Ashok Leyland. The BSE Auto index was trading 0.53 per cent down at 24,646 around 12:35 pm.

On Thursday, the Shares of Exide Industries, Maruti Suzuki India, Bajaj Auto, Eicher Motors, Hero MotoCorp and Apollo Tyres were also among the losers in the auto pack.

On the other hand, other stocks those were in the green zone included StCummins India, Motherson Sumi Systems, Bosch, Tata Motors and TVS Motor Company.

Equity benchmarks were kept down by losses in oil & gas, FMCG, capital goods, bank and auto stocks.

A fresh fall in the Indian rupee against the US dollar weighed on, while mixed global cues failed to lift the mood.
