Auto stocks down; Bajaj Auto slips over 2%

On Thursday, most auto stocks, including Bharat Forge and Bajaj Auto were incurring losses during afternoon trade. At around 02:25 pm, the BSE Auto index was trading 0.80 per cent down at 24,641.

It was also witnessed that the shares of Cummins India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hero MotoCorp and Motherson Sumi Systems fell. Some other stocks those were in the red are Bosch, Balkrishna Industries, Eicher Motors, Exide Industries, TVS Motor Company, Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki India. On the other hand, the shares of MRF, Ashok Leyland and Apollo Tyres were trading with gains.

Equity markets were up on gains in oil & gas, bank, financial and FMCG stocks amid firm global cues. Today, the benchmark BSE Sensex was up 330 points at 36,596, while the NSE Nifty50 index was up 90 points at 11,039.

Out of the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red. In the Sensex index, 18 stocks were advancing, while 13 were declining. Infosys, Bajaj Auto and Vedanta were among the top losers in the Sensex kitty.
